Hacked-Off

I have been overwhelmed by spam lately through this blog.  Today, my account got hacked and the majority of photos have disappeared.  If I can continue the blog, I will.  If not, I'll have to start afresh or just let the ship sink and get back to being superficial in person only.  We will see.

  1. Sorry to hear it. Keep up the good work. This blog is a very pleasurable diversion!

  2. YWP, please don't give it up entirely. This is one of the few quality blogs out there.

  3. Hello YWP, It seems that Google/Blogger is trying to kill off the blogging world by providing such poor service. I am not sure what "being hacked" really means in this context, but in addition to preventing it, Blogger should have a way to "roll back" or repair damaged accounts.

Mariette recently had a discussion of spam, with a practical solution of disallowing unregistered users, which I am now considering doing:

Please keep going. We enjoy your refreshing point of view, and YWP really has no parallels or replacements out there.

  4. Dear YWP,

Don't let the ship sink! Even if you move to a new blog, you can still "export" the content to it. It'd be a pity if this was abandoned.

  5. Indeed. If you go down with the ship, I may just quit the internet entirely.

  6. YWP so upset to hear this. I love the bloc but have had similar problems with hackers and google's lack of tools yo deal with the issue.

  7. Keep up the work, reading this blog has been a very pleasant experience for me, and blogsphere needs a myth buster like you.

  8. Check the picassa account tied to your gmail, and hopefully the images are still in the private album there.

Hope you don't have to give up on it, as I've always enjoyed your blog and wit. One of the rare few I keep up with anymore.

  9. Chiming in to echo the ladies and gents above. This is a nice corner of the electronic world to visit. It'd be a shame to lose it.

  11. I keep meandering by here to see if there's been a change. No such luck. Completely agree with JKG's post. I'll keep hoping. All the best.

Let's keep it clean... but if you DO have to get foul, at least give it a bit of wit. Also, advertising disguised as comments will be deleted, unless it is clever.
