I'm near convinced though that Sperry makes Beans shoe, which is marginally less expensive and holds up a bit better.Toadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17320342028348619490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119187433618815256.post-14834838551029258022011-08-05T06:32:35.082-04:002011-08-05T06:32:35.082-04:00Had 'em all, but haven't put a Topsider on...Had 'em all, but haven't put a Topsider on my feet in 30 years. Can't bring myself to buy them again, even though I have pretty much regressed to only wearing the same clothes I wore when I was a teenager. By my inspection of what's being sold today, the currently available logo-emblazoned Topsider isn't anywhere near as well made as it was 40 years ago, and besides I'd feel a fool wearing them. Sailed as a boy (was on the sailing team at my East coast prep school), haven't been closer to a boat than the Nantucket Ferry (where I am headed later today) in ten years. I'm sticking with the Bean Vamp Moc, even though that's a sad story, too, compared to the ones I wore way back when. Harumph! 'Dress' shoes at the beach were Bean's camp mocs or Bluchers (both highly trendy among the coastal prep school crowd in the '80s). Either of those shoes would get you into church but not onto an offshore racer. So it seems we missed the point of mocs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119187433618815256.post-37140956991192396362011-08-03T13:09:43.273-04:002011-08-03T13:09:43.273-04:00*Prinz: Last summer?
